Palmer House

Great Smoky Mountains National Park

The yellow Palmer House is a 'dog-trot' house, meaning it consists of two separate log cabins sitting side by side with a covered breezeway between them. The log cabins were later weatherboarded. Facing the house, the room on the left once served as the Cataloochee Post Office; today it holds a decrepit, but still interesting, collection of exhibits about the lives of the families who resided in Cataloochee.
