Pear Lake Ski Hut

Sequoia National Park

Backcountry experts who aren’t intimidated by a steep 6-mile, cross-country ski or snowshoe trek climbing 2000ft can enter the lottery (held in early November) to bunk down overnight at this rustic backcountry hut at 9200ft. The cozy hut sleeps 10 people and is warmed by a wood stove. It has a compost toilet. The trail begins at Wolverton Meadows.

Consult the Sequoia Parks Conservancy website for full details, including important safety tips. The hut doubles as a ranger base in the summer months.
