Yoichi's

Top choice in Santa Barbara

Headline: kaiseki (traditional Japanese multicourse dining) comes to Santa Barbara and wows locals. It might have limited hours, take a chunk out of your wallet and need to be booked way in advance, but none of that has stopped Yoichi's being hailed as one of Santa Barbara's best (and slightly hidden away) eating experiences.

The set menu consists of seven courses, divided into different types of dishes (soup, sashimi, grilled and so on), each of which delivers on both flavor and presentation thanks to chef Yoichi's culinary skills and the beautiful, handmade, ceramic plates on which he serves his creations. And of course there's top quality and some unusual sakes to try too. It's tucked away on a quiet residential road a few blocks northeast of State St.
