Kaufmann House

Greater Palm Springs

You can only catch a glimpse from the sidewalk of this glass, steel and stone masterpiece built by Richard Neutra but, oh, what a glimpse it is. Despite its reduced geometric outline, the one-story home blends beautifully into the desert landscape. It was built between 1946 and 1947 as the winter retreat of Pittsburgh department store owner Edgar Kaufmann.
