Downtown, MMA Pacific Street is particularly strong in California contemporary art and modern landscape painters and photographers, including Ansel Adams and Edward Weston. Southeast of downtown, MMA La Mirada, a silent-film star’s villa, has humble adobe origins that are exquisitely concealed. It is now only used for special museum events, and not generally open to the public. Check the website to see if anything is scheduled.
