Mountain Home Inn

Top choice in Marin County

Hikers rejoice! Set amid redwood, spruce and pine trees on a ridge of Mt Tamalpais with trails spreading in all directions, this retreat is both modern and rustic. The larger (more expensive) rooms are rugged beauties, with unfinished timbers forming floor-to-ceiling columns, as though the forest is shooting up through the floor. Smaller rooms are cozy dens for two.

The positioning of a good local trail map on each dresser makes it clear that it’s a place to hike, breathe and unwind. West Marin Stagecoach route 61 stops at the inn and there's a good restaurant on the premises.
