McCloud River Mercantile Hotel

Top choice in Mt Shasta Region

Stroll into McCloud’s central Mercantile Hotel and try not to fall in love; built in 1897, this former lumber company store has been exquisitely restored, and features an old-fashioned candy counter and a 1930s-era soda fountain on the 1st floor. Oh, and the former butcher shop is now a delicious new restaurant, McCloud Meat Market and Tavern.

On the 2nd floor, antique-furnished rooms have open-floor plans, feather beds and dainty claw-foot tubs. High ceilings and original wood are distinguishing features throughout the hotel, and the design is a perfect marriage of preservationist class and modern panache.

This is easily one of the best hotels in the northern mountains.
