The idea behind Lutsk's grandest restaurant came from a recipe book – unearthed during an archaeological dig – that belonged to the cook of King Vitovta of Lithuania. The current chef remains as faithful as possible to those 15th-century recipes (though a few tomatoes and potatoes have crept in somewhere) and the menu is as meat heavy as feasting medieval royals would have demanded.
The wall in the entrance hall is hung with photos of the rich and good who have dined here, including Viktor Yushchenko (before he was president).
