Just out of Masaka on the way to Mbarara, these Ramsar site–listed wetlands offer excellent opportunities to spy two of Uganda’s most elusive animals: the shoebill stork and the sitatunga. The observatory, a basic ecotourism facility, organises birdwatching and nature walks with a community ecotourism initiative through Nature Uganda.
