Sebile Hanım Konağı

Top choice in Black Sea Coast

Dating to 1877, this lovely old mansion has a glorious lobby-cum-dining room, its bare stone walls lavished with antiques. The rooms come with rugs on wooden floors, private baths, fridges and wall fabrics, but sizes vary considerably.

Deluxe rooms (s/d ₺150/300) are a decent size, some small 'standard' rooms (₺130/250) have genuine 1950s furniture and the 'honeymoon suite' (₺350) has a carved stone fireplace and tiny sauna. You might want to pass on the cheapest options, which are in a low-ceilinged mansard up a spindly spiral staircase, or across the street in the far less atmospheric – if still old – 'Little House'.

The hotel is 450m from Cumhuriyet Meydanı; walk 350m north following the remnant city walls, turning west (left, uphill) at the their northern end.
