Hotel Katerina Sarayı

Kars

Some showy splashes of gilt can feel a little over-the-top but the smallish rooms are very comfortable and certainly distinctive. The 1879 building was originally a Russian military hospital, and part of its charm is the tranquil riverside setting close to the western foot of the castle crag, around 10 minutes' walk from the centre.

The hotel is licensed, and in summer you can enjoy drinks in the front garden, right above the river.
