Kilye Suvla Lokanta

Top choice in Thrace & Marmara

Suvla's 60 hectares of certified organic vineyards are located near Kabatepe on the opposite side of the peninsula, but its winery, complete with an ultra-stylish garden restaurant, tasting room and produce store, is on Eceabat's outskirts. Worth a dedicated visit, its menu features simple modern twists on Turkish classics such as köfte (meatballs), plus fresh salads, pastas and Turkish-style pizzas.

Suvla produces wines in five categories, ranging from its base tipples, the Kabatepe kırmızı (a red wine), beyaz (white) and blush, to a mightily impressive grand reserve cabernet sauvignon and Roussane Marsanne. All can be sampled in the winery's tasting room (tastings ₺35 to ₺80) or in the restaurant, which features a huge glass wall looking into an ageing room that's full of oak barrels.

The winery is at the end of a road off Atatürk Caddesi, in the southwestern corner of town.
