Fronted by steep steps that feature in many tourist photographs, this traditional cafe has hosted André Gide, Paul Klee, Simone de Beauvoir and many other bohemian types over its long history. Its Andalusian-style interior has barley-sugar columns and rush-mat-covered platform seating. Outside are small terraces ideal for checking out the cobbled catwalk of the street while sipping mint tea with pinenuts.
