Caimeo Beach Resort

Timor-Leste

Right by the waves, this complex offers six upmarket villas, all surrounded by their own privacy wall. They are exceedingly spacious, stylish and comfortable with numerous colourful cushions, attractive wooden furniture and a private patio looking out to sea. Bathrooms are separate (but within the wall) so you don't traipse black sand through the room. There's also a worthwhile restaurant.

The service and atmosphere could be more welcoming. The occasionally choppy water is accessible via steps only, though there's a more placid beach alongside the complex.
