De Hinde

Friesland

The terrace across from a vintage lifeboat shed is the main draw at this harbour-side restaurant, run by the same family for three generations. Limited lunchtime dining (noon to 4pm) includes pea soup, herring salad and Fries roggebrood (Frisian rye bread) topped with fresh sheep's cheese. Dinner involves delicious fishy dishes like local oysters, IJsselmeer smoked eel and pike-perch.

Above its restaurant, De Hinde has a couple of stylish rooms with sea view to rent.
