Hotel Rembrandt

Amsterdam

Built for a 19th-century merchant, the sumptuous Rembrandt Hotel has an impressive red and white facade. Rooms are all different, but are generally light and bright, with colourful curtains or design touches and prints on the walls. Room 8 has a nearly life-sized mural of The Night Watch; three rooms have a balcony or garden terrace, and one a sauna.

Breakfast (adult/child €10/5) is served in a wood-panelled room with chandeliers and 17th-century paintings on linen-covered walls.
