Muang Pon Homestay Programme

Mae Hong Son Province

The residents of Muang Pon, a picturesque and traditional Shan village just south of Khun Yuam, have collaborated in this homestay programme for more than a decade. Approximately 15 households are involved, and the fee includes breakfast and dinner, and involvement in daily activities such as making traditional handicrafts, cooking local-style sweets, taking part in agriculture and sightseeing.

The locals are keen to open their homes and share their knowledge, but it must be noted that the level of English speaking among the villagers is low.

Muang Pon is about 10km south of Khun Yuam; any minivan bound for Mae Sariang or Chiang Mai can drop you off here.
