One of the most important wildlife reserves in Isan, Phu Wua is home to more than 40 elephants. It's a ruggedly beautiful area with lots of exposed bedrock and several large waterfalls. If you have your own vehicle you can visit the waterfalls independently, and trekking trips inside the park can be arranged through Bunloed's Huts, an excellent homestay on the eastern edge of the reserve.
