Kakahong

Northern Taiwan

This cool cafe is the centrepiece of 'Happy Together', a creative community of surfers who operate businesses here to support their wave-chasing lifestyle. As well as great coffee, desserts and light meals, the cafe sells locally made products like woven surfboard bags and jewellery. It's a 15-minute walk from Toucheng train station.

Next door is Junk Food, a stylish surfie restaurant selling fish burgers, seafood pasta and other comfort fare. Kakahong, which means flying fish in the Amis language, was founded in 2018. Beside the cafe are several workshops, including one making custom surfboard frames for motorbikes and bicycles.
