Two Fish

Eastern Taiwan & Taroko National Park

Two Fish offers nine clean, comfortable rooms, six of them with balconies overlooking Kaiyuan Harbour where ferries arrive. It's above the west coast's only 7-Eleven, so it's easy to find, though the shop's incessant door chimes, along with noise from the rooftop barbecue restaurant/pub, might disturb early sleepers.

In summer, an English-speaking receptionist is employed. Awkwardly for foreign guests, reservations generally require a deposit to be paid by bank transfer, but walk-in rates (from NT$2000) save a packet so it's worth a drop-in gamble outside peak holiday periods.
