Fuhang Soy Milk

Taipei

A popular shop in the Huashan Market for a traditional Taiwanese breakfast. Be prepared to wait – the queue regularly snakes down the stairs, and since the Michelin Guide gave it a nod in 2018, well down the street. Tasty it may be, but it's not a friendly experience if you don't speak Mandarin, and the wait time can get ridiculous.

If you're determined, try to get here before 6.30am; take Exit 5 from Shandao Temple MRT station, and look for the queue that leads upstairs in Huashan Market.

Best sellers include dòujiāng (豆漿, soy milk), yóutiáo (油條, fried bread stick), dàn bǐng (蛋餅, spring onion–filled crepes and egg) and shāobǐng (燒餅, stuffed layered flatbread).
