While there are classier places on the surrounding lowlands and slopes, if you want to be right at the highest point of Luye Plateau, with the best sweeping views, you can't beat Lutai. Seven rooms are tucked above a perfectly located souvenir shop and winebar-restaurant, which is at the top of Gaotai's grass ski slope.
Three of the rooms share a divided semicircular balcony with wide views north and there's a common terrace at the back staring west up the valley. Rooms are comfortable albeit a little busy, with polished brown-pattern marble floors.
