Star-Moon Hotel

Eastern Taiwan & Taroko National Park

Fair value by Green Island standards, this boxy place is less dowdy than the frontage appears, with 23 rooms that have been partly revamped with elements of contemporary taste. Bathrooms are mediocre, but windows let in plenty of light and the friendly receptionist, behind a desk of giant driftwood planks, speaks very good English.

It's a stone's throw east of the airport. Scooter hire NT$450, snorkel trips NT$350 per head.
