Bird House Hostel

Hualien

Peaceful and less flashy than many competitors, this clean, pleasant station area hostel wins on its friendly family management, its bright, naturally lit dorms and its free-to-use bicycles that are alone worth the very reasonable rent.

Bunks are un-curtained but have lamps and international power points. Tea, instant coffee and a small snack selection is provided along with a loaf of bread to toast for breakfast. There's a decent toilet-to-bed ratio, but some toilets double as showers so floors get wet. Free laundry and mountain views from the roof.
