Place Vaiete Roulottes

Top choice in Tahiti

The country’s famous roulottes (literally ‘caravans’ in French, these are mobile food vans) are a cultural and gastronomic delight. These little stalls sizzle, fry and grill up a storm every evening from around sunset and things don’t quiet down until well into the night.

There are dozens of roulottes to choose from. Get good thin-crust pizzas or everything and anything else from hamburgers to crêpes. Finish your meal with a Nutella-and-banana waffle. Live music enlivens the scene most weekend nights. Cash only.
