Pension Aute

Mo'orea

This family-run abode is a bit isolated, but that's part of its appeal. Three bungalows are ideally positioned on a skinny stretch of white sand and offer killer views over the turquoise water. There are also five garden bungalows with no views. They're tightly packed in exotic garden areas, but they're all tidy and well equipped, and the larger ones are suitable for families.

Here the lagoon is shallow, which makes it safe for young children. Adults can kayak to superb coral gardens closer to the barrier reef. It’s quite far from the ‘action’, but car hire makes it easier to get around. Rates are discounted for longer stays (except during school holidays).
