Monte Rose Hütte

Zermatt

Hard-core climbers adore Monte Rose Hütte, perched on the edge of the Monte Rose glacier at 2883m and accessible only on foot via a four-hour glacial trail (only for serious mountaineers with a guide). Nonclimbers can admire the solar-powered, crystalline hut, considered the height of state-of-the-art Alpine self-sufficiency, from the viewing platform at the top of the Gornergratbahn cogwheel railway.
