The pedestrianised streets of the Old Town around the Place de la Riponne, in the foreground of the Palais de Rumine, come to life every Wednesday and Saturday with purveyors of quality regional produce such as fruit, vegetables, cheeses and meats. It's a great spot to stock up on picnic-hamper provisions or to try local snacks such as taillé aux greubons (flaky pastry cooked with pork fat). From early November to Christmas Eve it's also the location of Lausanne's bustling Christmas market.
There's also a flea market, Marché de Chauderon, and a craft market Marché à la Place de la Palud.
