Canouan's ultraluxurious megaresort on Godahl Beach was relaunched as the Mandarin Oriental Canouan in 2018 and remains the most upscale place to stay in the Grenadines. It's a fairly flashy affair with plenty of marble, mirrors and pink flourishes in the 26 suites and six huge three-floor Lagoon Villas, all of which have sea views. Services abound including an infinity pool and golf course.
The single-floor Patio Villas at the top of the property are more earthy but every bit as comfortable with plenty of wood features and private infinity pools overlooking the sea below.
There are five bars and restaurants on-site and guests travel in golf carts or shuttles to the other two beaches within the resort: Shell Beach just to the north and Lance Goyac on the calmer Caribbean side of the island.
Guests also have access to facilities, including four more bar/restaurants, on the adjacent Canouan Estate, a further collection of luxury villas. Non-guests can come and use the facilities with a day pass for US$150 per visitor.
