The German owners have long lived in Africa – hence the name. Their B&B features six rooms that are individually designed, with such themes as Kreol, Malagasy, Arab, Chinese and Indian, but feel a tad compact due to the cubicle shower plonked in the corner. Good English is spoken. Air-con is extra (€5). Rates drop by €5 if you stay two nights.
The Malagasy room, complete with wooden masks and other delightful knick-knacks, is the best (and the most spacious). The Kreol is the cheapest, but its bathrooms are outside. There's also a larger suite. Perks include a kitchen for guests' use and a relaxing garden, plus 4WD tours can be organised (€70). It's a five-minute stroll from Manapany-les-Bains' tide pool. Cash only.
