This government-run stand exists to preserve local traditional foods, but for travellers it's an excellent chance to do some culinary exploration. Try a portion of pittu (steamed rice flower patty with savoury sauce) followed by a narang kewum (fried coconut and honey ball), washed down with a belimal flower tea, all for sale for pennies.
The friendly ladies who run the place will guide you through what's available. It's out of town, by the roadside 3.5km northeast of Dambulla, on the road to the Inamaluwa junction.
