Brilliant Posada de Cucayo sits at 950m altitude in a tiny red-roofed village on the slopes of the Cordillera Cantábrica. Eleven of the 12 spacious rooms enjoy sweeping views over the surrounding scarred mountain peaks and green fields. The excellent restaurant features produce from the owners' farm next door, including a fantastic cocido lebaniego (stew with meat, sausages, chickpeas and cabbage).
The owners have plenty of info on fine local walks in the surrounding hills. Cucayo is a lovely 12km drive up the CA894 from La Vega de Liébana, 9km south of Potes on the N621.
