Parador de La Seu d'Urgell

While not as palatial as some of Spain's other paradores (luxurious state-owned hotels), this pleasing hotel has plain, modern rooms surrounding an elegant Renaissance cloister, which hosts a cafe-bar between stone archways. Corridors are illuminated in colour at night, there's a good restaurant (mains €12 to €17) and indoor pool, and you're just up the street from La Seu d'Urgell's cathedral.
