Just east of the town centre, Esmeralda is a handsomely restored 1874 stone building with large, old-fashioned but tasteful rooms, comfy beds, splashes of colourful decor and plenty of character. It’s well run by the fourth generation of the family that built it. (But skip the overpriced breakfast.) Rates dive outside August.
