Asador Gonzaba

Santiago de Compostela

For a Galician feast, wander south into the Ensanche to this classic grill house entered along an unpromising passage beside a bakery. The decor is neat and pleasant, with a few black-and-white photos, but the focus is on the grilled meat and fish, especially chuletón, a top-quality giant T-bone-like beef chop which you order by weight.

The fish is excellent too, and there's lots of good Spanish wine to go with everything.
