It might not be close enough to smell the ocean, but Surfari is highly recommended. A family-run boutique backpacker lodge, it has bright, beautifully decorated rooms with breathtaking views of the coastal forest and ocean beyond. The enormous lounge has a bar, large TV and pool table, plus the owners rent out surfboards (R300 per day).
