A playground for lovers of sheep's cheese, Salaš Krajinka has not only a modern-rustic restaurant but a booth selling smoky, chewy cheese to be eaten at leisure around its gardens and miniature zoo. Decide between pareničky (snail-shell whirls) or korbáčiky (plaited string cheese), watch scampering sheep, and grab some unforgettable donuts from the bakery. You'll need private transport to visit.
Many locals arrive by car simply to stock up on cheese and zoom back to town, but families tend to hang around to watch sheep being herded, or to check out the tractors and folkloric wood-carvings scattered around the site. It's 8km northwest of Ružomberok.
