Mellben Seafood

Top choice in Singapore

When it comes to chart-topping crab, no shortage of locals will direct you to Mellben, a modern, hawker-style set-up at the bottom of a nondescript block. Signature dishes are claypot crab bee hoon (rice vermicelli noodles), butter crab and the ever-famous chilli crab. The crabs here yield gorgeous chunks of sweet, fresh meat; order a male unless you like roe.

Arrive before 5.30pm or after 8.30pm to avoid the longest queues; midweek is also quieter. Service can sometimes be slow, so come with a little patience.
