Retro Yet Con has been serving up superlative Hainanese chicken rice since 1940. Don't come expecting designer decor or charming service. Just come for the chicken, which is tender, packed with flavour and served to faithful suits, old-timers and 20-something food nerds by stern-looking aunties. Don't be put off by the lunch crowds either – turnover is usually fast.
