La Digue Island Lodge

La Digue

Set along a beautiful section of Anse Réunion, this resort has a variety of revamped A-frame chalets and rooms. The best budget options are in the charming Yellow House, a colonial mansion at the back of the carefully manicured gardens. The most alluring are the towering beach chalets, which stare out to sea and feature ultramodern, semi-open plan bathrooms of dark stone.

The garden A-frame chalets, like those on the beach, have ladder-accessed mezzanine levels that accommodate one child (free up to the age of 12). The two-bedroom options in the atmospheric plantation beach house are great for larger families. Amenities are solid, with two restaurants, two bars, a spa and pool. The beach's shallow waters are handy for parents, but not ideal for proper swimming.
