With two centuries of history as an angling destination, this remote, upmarket hotel has bags of character and is popular with fisherfolk. The variety of rooms are decorated in plush classical fabrics. The restaurant serves excellent food (two-/three-course dinners £29/35), and there's also a convivial bar. It's worth coming here just for the drive: the route from Tongue is spectacular.
There are also refurbished self-catering cottages available.
