The Alamo may not sound like a peaceful spot, but that's exactly what this great place is. Opposite Kelvingrove Park, it feels miles from the city's hustle, but several of Glasgow's best museums and restaurants are right at hand. The decor blends antique furnishings and modern design, with excellent bathrooms, and the owners will make you very welcome.
The superior rooms are a sumptuous sight to behold and may be a cheap upgrade at quiet times. Breakfast is abundant and events such as whisky tastings are regularly offered.
