There are four spacious berths in this cute wee stone böd, 3.5 miles northeast of Eshaness, with its challengingly low door. It’s very basic, with no showers or electricity. This was the birthplace of Johnnie ‘Notions’ Williamson, an 18th-century blacksmith who inoculated several thousand people against smallpox using a self-devised serum.
