This former church is now a remote, welcoming hostel in a peaceful streamside location. It's popular with walkers and offers simple accommodation in crowded dorms, very pleasant doubles and grassy campsites (pre-pitched tents available). It's 15 miles from Aberfoyle by road, or by ferry from Loch Lomond's western side, or via an 8-mile walk north from Rowardennan on the West Highland Way.
A hot tub is great for aching muscles and the cafe serves simple meals (noon to 4pm and 6pm to 8pm), packed lunches and decent beers; you can also self-cater evening meals. It's a 15-minute uphill trudge from the lakeshore and trail, but they offer free transfers. A modern self-catering cabin is also available.
