Run by a welcoming expat family, this homey pensiune is on a backstreet a few minutes' walk from the main train station. There are good-value six-bed dorms as well as private singles and doubles – some with en suite baths. Ask for a top-floor room, with pretty views and air-conditioning, but watch the narrow stairways.
