Head to this homely campground in the hamlet of Îlet-à-Vidot, about 2km northwest of Hell-Bourg, if you're after a peaceful setting to pitch your tent within a grassy (and shady) property. The ablution block is in good nick and there's a kitchen for guests' use. No meal service, but there's a (modest) grocery store nearby.
Laurent, the sporty owner (he has run the Grand Raid race), can take you to various scenic spots in the area and provide you with a wealth of information (alas, in French) about local plants and architecture.
