Marialva's cobbled centre provides the memorable setting for this luxurious set-up, one of central Portugal's stand-out hotels. In fact, much of the hilltop hamlet is given over to the hotel whose antique-clad guest rooms occupy a series of traditional stone houses and modern chalet-like structures. Decor varies but the overall feel is one of cosy elegance with fireplaces, candelabras, and plenty of exposed stone.
Facilities include a spa, a pretty private garden, a swimming pool and a restaurant where dinner is served for €67.50 per person. Non-guests can eat here too but should book at least 24 hours in advance. Note also that not all rooms have air-con.
