Restaurante Madeirense

Faro

For an exotic take on Portuguese cuisine, this small Madeiran restaurant bangs down plates loaded with specialities you'll only get on the Island of Eternal Spring. Espada (scabbard fish), bolo de caco (potato bread) and pudim de maracuja (maracuja pudding) are just some of the treats on offer; round things off with a poncha (sugar-cane liqueur) or sweet Madeira wine.

The interior is bedecked with Madeiran knick-knacks and the tables are dressed with the striking national folk cloth of Madeira (red with multicoloured stripes).
