This lovely place has a spectacular setting. High above the Albufeira, it offers a splendid retreat at eagle’s-nest heights. The rooms have wood-beamed ceilings and comfy furnishings; some have verandas with magnificent views. There’s a pool, gardens, tennis court and an excellent restaurant serving local delicacies (trout, roasted goat). Take the N304 3km south from Rio Caldo, following signs for Caniçada.
