Portugandhi

Aliados & Bolhão

If you’re craving curry, head uptown to Portugandhi (where you’ll find an Indian owner and cook, so you know it’s the real deal). Although off the tourist path, the restaurant has a strong local following so it’s best to book ahead, particularly on Friday and Saturday nights. The weekday lunch menu is also popular.

Along with usual favourites, including butter chicken, tikka masala, vindaloo and korma, you’ll find tasty chacuti – a traditional dish from Portugal’s former colony of Goa. The curries are generally quite mild, so let the waiter know if you like your curry with kick and they’ll happily ramp up the heat.
